My Mission: Providing Quality Care Seniors Deserve.

I want to take the opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Corienne Scott. I have been the Housekeeping Director of The Cedars of Austin for nine years. I have spent the last 37-plus years working with seniors. I started my career in healthcare as an aide, providing direct care to patients and residents of a nursing home in the Austin area. I also worked in an adult dementia daycare for 15 years. I enjoy working with the elderly. They have so much to offer.

I had planned a different career. I wanted to be a landscaper. This career found me, and I am so glad it did. I cannot imagine doing anything else.

I have experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant in daycare, Dementia Daycare, Assisted Living, and housekeeping. Most of the time, I have done two or three of these at the same time!!

When I was a caregiver, I took great pride in being able to provide quality care for dementia residents that other aides had a hard time with. I found that it is in how you approach residents. I try to help them maintain their dignity and offer them choices. In that way, I could successfully provide the necessary care they needed. It is very rewarding to be able to accomplish care for a dementia resident who then feels happy, safe, and secure. They may not remember your name, but they will remember your face.

It is my sincere wish to make a resident’s life more enjoyable, comfortable, and happy. If the residents are happy, I am happy. Every person deserves great care when they get older, and I strive to provide that each and every day.

We never know which direction life will take us. I only hope that everyone who needs a little help is given it in a dignified manner. I hope I am part of their journey and can make their day a little brighter.
